IBPS PO Prelims 2020 Exam Analysis: Section-wise Cut-Off Score

The IBPS notification 2021 for the recruitment of Probationary Officers was released on October 19, 2021. A total of 4135 vacancies were announced. Now that the notification is out and the application window is open, we hope you have also put your preparation in 5th gear.

In today’s article, we will be making an analysis of the IBPS PO Prelims exam 2020. We will then also examine the cut-off scores for this exam.

IBPS PO 2020 Prelims Exam Analysis

English Language

There was a Reading Comprehension on the Education System that was followed by questions based on the passage for 8 marks. There were between 4-6 questions from Word Replacement, Cloze Test and Sentence Rearrangement.

The overall standard of assessment was easy-to-moderate.

Reasoning Aptitude

There were 10 Seating Arrangement questions on both Linear and Circular Seating Arrangement. Also, there were 13 questions on Puzzles. We always advise our students to prepare Seating Arrangement and Puzzles thoroughly as a significantly large number of questions are expected from these 2 subjects in every exam.

Some other questions were based on Syllogism, Inequality and Blood Relations.

The overall level of assessment was easy.

Quantitative Aptitude

15 questions on Data Interpretation were asked in the form of tabular data, line graphs and Caselets. 10 questions were based on Arithmetic Word Problems. There were 5 questions each on Missing Number Series and Quadratic Equations. The overall level of difficulty of this section was easy-to-moderate.

IBPS PO 2020 Prelims Cut-off

Section-wise Cut-off

The highest cut-off mark from all the 3 subjects was for English Language at 11 for the General category. Similarly, among the reserved groups, the cut-off mark was 7.75 in English. This reflects the relatively easy standard of assessment of this section. The overall lowest cut-off mark was 4.25 for the reserved groups for Reasoning Ability.

Category-wise Cut-off

The overall cut-off for the General category was 58.75 that was also the highest cut-off across all streams. The lowest cut-off was for the ST category at 43.50.
