IBPS RRB 2020 Office Assistant Exam Analysis

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has released the official notification for the IBPS RRB 2021 exam on 07th June 2021. As per the IBPS RRB notification 2021, a total of 10,676 vacancies have been announced for Officer Scale I, II, III and Office Assistant posts. 

The IBPS conducts national-level exams for various banking posts every year. Through these exams, the IBPS recruits both Grade A and B  banking personnel. This year, IBPS has announced 5305 openings for the post of IBPS RRB Group B Office Assistant.

IBPS RRB Office Assistant Exam Pattern

Let us take a look at the exam pattern for the IBPS RRB Office Assistant exam. The exam is conducted in two parts- Preliminary and Mains. Since the Office Assistant is a clerical post, no interview is held. For the Prelims paper, Reasoning and Numerical Ability will be tested.  For the Mains exam, there will be 5 subjects (ADD) that will be assessed. From each subject, there will be a total of 40 questions asked. However, as you can see above, the marking scheme for each subject is different. For the language assessment, candidates can opt for either English or Hindi.

There will be negative marking for both preliminary and mains examinations. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at a corrected score.

Reasoning Aptitude

From Reasoning Aptitude, a total of 40 questions will be asked for a maximum of 50 marks. Take a look at the table below to understand how many questions are expected from each topic. Numerical Ability

From Numerical Ability, a total of 40 questions are assessed for 50 marks. The greatest number of questions are asked from Simplifications. From DI and Arithmetic Word Problems, ten questions each are asked. The least number of questions are assessed from the Missing Number Series. Overall, the level of assessment is easy.

RRB CLERK Mains 2020 Exam Analysis

English Language

In the Mains examination, ten questions will be asked from Reading Comprehension. The Reading Comprehension test assesses a person’s ability to read and comprehend written information quickly. A passage will be given which candidates have to read. After this, they have to answer questions based on the passage. A total of 40 questions will be asked in this section for 40 marks.

RRB CLERK PRELIMS CUT-OFFS 2020

For the Office Assistant exam, State-wise cut offs are released. Analysing the previous year’s exam cut-offs can help us understand the level of assessment and the marks attainable. Similarly, candidates should also aim toward scoring higher marks than last year’s cut-off marks so that they can be confident about making the cut.

From last year’s data, we can see that cut-offs range in the 70s. The highest cut-off marks were for Odisha at 79.75 and the lowest for Madhya Pradesh at 66.75. This state-wise cut-off is particularly beneficial as candidates from all over India appear for this exam. As we can gather from the table above, the cut-offs range from the 40s to the 60s. The highest cut-off marks were 70.19 for the general category in the state of Uttarakhand. Across all categories, the lowest cut-off marks (36.03) were for the Scheduled Tribes from West Bengal.

The maximum cut-off marks refer to the highest marks obtained by a candidate from a particular category from each state. This data is just provided for information purposes. While it is important for candidates to score the minimum cut-off marks to qualify, the knowledge of maximum cut-off marks encourages candidates to outperform themselves. The highest mark obtained in this exam was 79.69 by a candidate from Bihar hailing from the Unreserved category. The lowest maximum marks obtained by a qualifying candidate were 50.25 by a candidate from Jammu & Kashmir belonging to a Scheduled Tribe.
